Three weeks after the initial implementation of the transition plans, things seem to be looking good in the three parishes.

Most exciting of them all is the way people have received the 4:00 PM Community mass.  The masses have of that schedule have all been well attended, and people have given positive feedback.  Thanks to the many that helped make this a possibility.  We are still looking for more volunteers from the three parishes to serve as liturgical ministers in this schedule.  The training session are scheduled and announced:

Wednesday, July 15 at 6:00 PM for lectors, ushers and extraordinary ministers of communion, and 7:00 PM for altar servers.

Saturday, August 1 at 9:30 AM for lectors, ushers and extraordinary ministers of communion, and 10:30 AM for altar servers.

Please continue to pray the pray in a time of transition during the month of July.  Thank you to the many parishioners who have stepped up and integrated their commitment into making our parishes happy, healthy and holy.  God bless us all.

 Dear Catholic faithful of Kankakee,

These are very crucial days in the life of the Catholic faithful of the city of Kankakee. Never before has any of our churches been asked to share a pastor with two other parishes, but it is the reality that we face now in the history of Catholicism in our area. Our response to this reality defines a lot how easy or difficult these days can be. As the pastor given the task to journey with you during this unusual time, I can only ask that we never forget that God is the one that guides His Church, and that He is with us through this change; we hold on to Jesus' promise that He will be with His Church until the end of time. I also ask that we participate well in the conversations and discussions with an open and generous heart. It is not an easy task, but it is also not tragic. I hope and pray that we will be guided by the wisdom of the Lord as we walk through this path of the transition, not only for our sake but also for the generation of Catholics that will follow. May they find us faithful.

O Faithful God, as your people,
we cherish our memories
and our history as a sacred gift.
We ask you to guide us in our time of transition.
We need your wisdom, that we might be receptive
to change, conversion and growth.
We need your grace to redirect our hearts
That we may be willing to offer ourselves
In joyful service,

Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride
To limit the work of your Spirit,
Nor custom to prevent
The creativity within us from bearing fruit.
Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel.
Give us courage and renewed hope,
That we may meet the challenge of being
The church of our time.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
