John Angotti Concert on November 20
MESSAGE FROM FR. SUNNY CASTILLO
Dear Catholic faithful of Kankakee,
These are very crucial days in the life of the Catholic faithful of the city of Kankakee. Never before has any of our churches been asked to share a pastor with two other parishes, but it is the reality that we face now in the history of Catholicism in our area. Our response to this reality defines a lot how easy or difficult these days can be. As the pastor given the task to journey with you during this unusual time, I can only ask that we never forget that God is the one that guides His Church, and that He is with us through this change; we hold on to Jesus' promise that He will be with His Church until the end of time. I also ask that we participate well in the conversations and discussions with an open and generous heart. It is not an easy task, but it is also not tragic. I hope and pray that we will be guided by the wisdom of the Lord as we walk through this path of the transition, not only for our sake but also for the generation of Catholics that will follow. May they find us faithful.
This homepage is designed primarily for the purpose of communication. You will find here some important information about the transition for the three parishes over the next few months, and beyond. I hope it serves as a helpful tool for communication. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to call my office at 815-933-7683 or send an email at email@example.com. Thank you.

PRAYER IN TIME OF TRANSITION
O Faithful God, as your people,
we cherish our memories
and our history as a sacred gift.
We ask you to guide us in our time of transition.
We need your wisdom, that we might be receptive
to change, conversion and growth.
We need your grace to redirect our hearts
That we may be willing to offer ourselves
In joyful service,
Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride
To limit the work of your Spirit,
Nor custom to prevent
The creativity within us from bearing fruit.
Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel.
Give us courage and renewed hope,
That we may meet the challenge of being
The church of our time.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.

Kankakee Catholics celebrate the conclusion of the Year of Mercy with a prayer concert with Catholic Music Minister John Angotti on Christ the King Sunday, November 20, at 1:00 PM. It will also serve as a venue to provide a review of how the Year of Mercy has been observed the Catholic Churches in this part of the Joliet Diocese. The program will begin with a prayerful rendition of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Downtown Kankakee. Tickets are now available at the Kankakee Parish Offices, and at the Love Bookstore. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for the event.
Dance of All Saints
For the past seven years, Saint Teresa Church has sponsored a special community-building event called, "Dance of All Saints" where the Hispanic Community takes the leadership role of collaborating with the rest of the church community. This year, the Encuentros Juveniles will host the event for the community. Dancing, costume contest and sumptuous food have always been part of this special event, and it will not be any different this year. Invitations to the tri-parish community have been extended and the final preparations are underway.
Come and join us at Saint Teresa's Lisieux Center on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 7PM to midnight. Tickets are available for $10 at our parish offices. See you there!
LITURGICAL MINISTERS POSITIONED FOR COMMISSIONING
The liturgical ministers of Saint Teresa, Saint Rose and Saint Martin have been going through inter-parish sessions with Fr. Sunny Castillo to review procedures, reflect on the spirituality of the ministries, and call them forth to re-commit to their service to the parishes' liturgies.
Having signed their commitment forms, they are now positioned to the Rite of Commissioning of Liturgical Ministers on the weekend of November 19/20, while celebrating the final weekend of the church calendar.
"Thank you for your generosity," Fr. Sunny sincerely expressed, as he gathered the ministers in separate inter-parish meetings for lectors, ushers and extraordinary ministers of communion. Meanwhile, the effort to recruit more volunteers for the liturgies in the churches continues...
